Lewis, Day was founded in 1947 by P. Derek Lewis Q.C., a private practitioner active since then in the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and in Canada’s public life. David C. Day Q.C. has, since 1968, been the other partner. The firm has been counsel in many significant civil, constitutional, criminal and family law cases in the Province’s Supreme Court and from that Court and superior courts of other Canadian provinces to the Supreme Court of Canada.
